Important News - Personal Electronic Devices

Monticello families;  A new technology has appeared!  Did you know that children can now get wrist watches that also act as cell phones?   These personal electronic devices (PED's) can be a wonderful tool to help parents know their child is safe.  At school, however, any cell phone or other PED is required to be turned in to the office, to be picked up as children leave for the day.  If your child is using a cell phone watch, please communicate to him or her that it is important to remember to bring the device to the office upon arrival.  If a child forgets, remind him or her that turning it in even though part of the day is past is still best; a student should not try to hold onto or hide it instead.   We understand that children do sometimes forget and will honor their honesty if that happens. Please help your child use PED's responsibly by reminding him or her that school buses are part of school, so PED's are not to be used on the bus.  As a reminder to parents, when a child is found using or possessing a device during school or on a school activity without teacher direction, the device is confiscated and kept safe in the office until the parent can pick it up. Please look at the student handbook for more information on PED's, and feel free to contact Ms. Kemery if you have any questions.
